The Black Hall is the main entrance of the building of the National Congress, giving access to the Chamber of Deputies and to the Federal Senate. Its name is due to the color of the floor.
The access to this space is made through a white marble ramp facing the Esplanade of the Ministries, through which national and international authorities, besides visitors from the country and abroad, enter the building of the National Congress.
With an area of 600 square meters and capacity for 2 thousand people, the Black Hall is used for many purposes.
Through it the President of the Republic enters the Palace of the National Congress, on the day he or she takes office, to go to the Ulysses GuimarĂ£es Plenary room and take the oath of office.
Ecumenical worship, congressional wakes, and expositions and manifestations of a political and cultural nature, also take place in this hall.
